Alternative Study Methods - Lumosity

Hi everybody,

I'm wondering if anyone has used alternative sources to gain general knowledge in their study process. Specifically, has anybody incorporated Lumosity or Kahn Academy in their study efforts? Since time is always limited, is effort put towards the aforementioned just taking away from problem solving and analysis? Or have people found value in more alternative sources for learning? I've searched the site for other posts on this subject and have yet to find anything meaningful and I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

I've considered Khan Academy but haven't actually tried it, since I'm already enrolled in a prep course. I'm interested to know if anyone actually has.

Well this doesn't seem to attract much attention, but here's a quick update: I've decided to join luminosity for $60. The 15 mins/day to "improve cognitive function" appears to be worth it. I don't want to take the GMAT with the feeling something may have been left on the table. I'll keep an eye on this post if anybody has any questions.

I've have been using Luminosity on and off for about 4 months and i've seen improvement in my concentration and mental dexterity. I've also been using Khan Academy and believe its helped.

Hi RMT,

Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) is a fantastic resource for people who want to practice the basics without spending any money. We actually have specific recommendations from that site to all of our clients who are concerned about their basic math skills. What these sites don't typically offer though is real "expertise" in the given exams. No insider tips. No analysis. No pattern matching. If your goal is 700+, then a site such as Khan Academy will probably not be enough to get you there. I will say that the site does have a fantastic design, is fun to use and will certainly help you to improve if your immediate problems are with basic stuff.
