I'm assuming the measure of the length of the hypotenuse is 11 units.grandh01 wrote:A right triangle measuring 11, other sides are y and y+1. What is the value of y?
So, 11² = y² + (y + 1)²
--> (2y² + 2y + 1) = 121
--> (2y² + 2y - 120) = 0
--> (y² + y - 60) = 0
Hence, y = (√241 - 1)/2 or y = (√241 + 1)/2
