A bottle is 80% full. The liquid in the bottle consists of 60% guava juice and 40% pineapple juice. The remainder of the bottle is then filled with 70mL of rum. How much guava juice is in the bottle?

IMO ans is 168 mL
Approach -1) 20% of vol of bottle = 70 mL
2) Find total volume of bottle in mL. 60% (guava juice) of 80% of the total volume of bottle is our answer.

@ kanwar Thanks a lot. 1st of all love your tag line "No matter how messed up your conditions look, eventually everything makes sense; Just stay focused".
your approach is simple.
The solution given in the book is something like-If the bottle is 80% full, then the 70ml of rum represents 20%. Use your knowledge of percentage to figure out that 80% if four times as big as 20%. Therefore, there must be 4*70(280)ml of the guava-pineapple mixture in the bottle. Use a percentage table to find the amount of guava juice.

part x 60
whole 280 100

16800=100x
x=168
