In the addition problem above, each letter represents a digit, and a letter used more than once represents the same digit. What digit does K represent?

A. 9
B. 8
C. 3

First off, we can see that N=1 and M=7, so we get:
...3,J66
+ 8,KJ7
. 12,J13

From here, if we focus on the tens digits, we can see that J=4 (to get 6+4+1 = 1 in the tens position)
So, we get:
...3,466
+ 8,K47
. 12,413

Now that K is the only missing digit, we can see that [spoiler]K = 9[/spoiler]

Answer = A

Consider 1000th place digit of each number 3+8 = 11
but the resulting number is N2, this is possible with carry 1 so N=1

Only 6 + 7 result to 13 which has 3 as units digit, Hence, M = 7.

6+J+1(carry of 6+7) results in 1 (N=1)
this is possible only if J=4, So, 6+4+1 = 11
Now, J+K+1(carry of 6+J+1) should result in J i.e. 4
this is possible only if K is 9, Hence answer A
