Profile evaluation request

by NM0610 » Mon Feb 24, 2014 6:13 am
Hi,

I'd like to apply to HEC Paris for the September intake and would appreciate it if you could do a profile evaluation for me and also help me with schools that I could apply to with my profile.

Work Ex

2.5 years with Google India in their AdWords team. I work closely with small and medium businesses to help them set up AdWords and ensuring that their transition into online advertising happens smoothly. Got in an early promotion and up for one this March - So that would make it 2 promotions in 2.5 years. Also got selected for a business rotation from 300 applicants to travel to the head office in Mountain view (CA) for 2 weeks.

Before Google, I worked with a TV news channel for about a year. I worked with their ad sales team and was responsible for a set of clients in South India - Sales and Servicing.

Education

GMAT : 660 ( I know that this could be a disadvantage )
Verbal : 34
Quant : 47

Undergrad : Bachelor of Commerce from Shri Ram college of Commerce ( University of Delhi )
Aggregate of 70% which adds up to 3.5 - 4.0 GPA

High school : 95% CBSE

Extra curricular

- State level tennis player in school
- Awarded multiple awards for painting through school and college
- Head of fine arts society in college
- Ally in the discrimination against LGBT community in office
- Volunteer, the youth parliament - Delhi

Hi,

You have good overall profile with average GMAT and work ex, you have good chance to make it to HEC with strong essays and recommendations so just focus on them and start working on your application. You can also apply to b-schools like IE, IESE, St.Gallen in Europe and if you are looking at Canada then Rotman and McGill university would be a good option. Let me know are you looking at one year programs or 2 year programs? Also I can connect you with HEC current student and alumni, happy to help!!

Regards,
Manish

Hey Manish,
Thanks so much for your reply. Getting in touch with HEC alumni would be really helpful. It would be great if you could put me in touch with some of them.
Also, I m mostly looking at 1 year programmes at the moment but haven't entirely ruled out 2 year programs. Could you probably suggest some schools in the US and Singapore as well?

There aren't too many 1 year programs in the US but some have programs a bit shorter than 2 years, for example Columbia's January start is only 16 months. Thunderbird also offers a 1 year program.

In addition to HEC, might consider INSEAD as they offer a 1 year program in Singapore.

Overall you've got a really great profile but if you are targeting the top b-schools, your gmat score unfortunately won't cut it. You have to get your quant and verbal percentiles way up there but you can always re-write it.

Good luck!
