Was I just lucky?

by mjjking » Fri Nov 21, 2008 8:00 am
hi guys,
I scored 42 on V on my GMATPrep 2 practice test (I used to score 34-36 on MGMATs, but I always badly paced myself and always had 10-15 minutes left on the V). Then, on test day, I scored 40, which made me realize that 42 wasn't unreal after all.

Now, do you think I was just lucky with that 40? Or do you think I can improve it to a 42-43? I would have though I was lucky if I hadn't scored the 42 on GMATPrep, even though I must say 4-5 questions on the Verbal of the GMATPrep weren't new for me (I didn't know/remember the correct answers though, I just recalled I had seen them b4!).
So what do you think?? Can I get a 42 on the test??

Thanks!!

What was your composite score and your quant score? What did you get on your AWA? A 40 verbal is pretty good so retaking probably isn't worth it unless your current score is below the average for the schools you're applying to. Also depends on how strong your other stats are.

Hi,
my score is 680, Q43, V40, AWA 5.5. I want to apply to top20 schools, including a couple of top10, so having 700+ will help.

Do you believe its doable? Therein lies the answer.

Objectively, it is absolutely doable if you take the time to understand what you're not getting right and where your challenges are...and fix them up... your plan MUST be focused.

Good Luck!
