Hello..

I would like to understand which books should i study for IR?
My IR scores have been around 5 or 6. How do i try to improve the scores on IR?

Please help.

Hi Abhitit K,

Many Business Schools have publicly stated that they do NOT use the GMAT IR score as part of the process to evaluate applicants. With an IR score of 5 or 6, you're performing well, but your time would be better served working to improve other areas of the GMAT (or other aspects of your overall application) than working on your IR performance.

Hi Abhijit K

I agree with Rich. A 5 or 6 IR score should be fine, as many schools have yet to put much weigh into IR scores as part of their evaluation.

I wouldn't advise on buying more books on IR. Few things to note:

1. The IR section is only a half hour long and, as you know, is not part of the 200-800 score.
2. Do learn the IR question types and formats.
3. Try not to invest too much emotionally into the AWA and IR sections. You should be saving your energies for the Verbal and Quant sections.

Hi Abhijit,

As far as the resources for IR are concerned, the following are my favorites:

1) The set of 50 online questions that come with Official Guide to GMAT. This is a good place to first get exposure to the style and content of IR questions. At this stage I recommend students to take as much time as you need to do the problems.

2) IR Prep Tool: This has a set of 48 questions. Create four tests of 12 questions each and do them in 30 minutes. You do have to pay for the IR Prep tool available from mba.com: https://www.mba.com/global/store/store-c ... -tool.aspx

3) Four IR tests that are part of the two free GMATPrep Practice tests and the additional two tests in the Exam Pack 1 extension. Do these as part of the computer adaptive tests.
