It would be highly appreciated if you rank my writing or help me to correct the flaws.
Question:
"Corporation and other business should try to eliminate the many ranks and salary grades that classify employees according to their experience and expertise. A 'flat' organizational structure is more likely to encourage collegiality and cooperation among employees."
Answer:
From the very beginning people got a dream to study hard so that they will get a good score which will lead them to get a very good job. The definition of good job rarely differ among the masses as good job guaranteed a very good salary along with other some fringe benefits such as promotion, retirement plans and security of the job. Out of these benefits, lucrative remuneration is the primary motivational force that drives the people to work hard and reach their goals. In the preceding statement the author claims that a flat organizational structure is more likely to encourage collegiality and cooperation among employees and I shall present arguments against the author statement.
People have a dream to achieve something in their life and they try to make it possible through their work. A newly fresh graduate joined at professional life with a vision that he/she will work hard so that very soon he will be holding a very prestigious position in the organization and able to secure his/her financial position. Whenever people got an opportunity to earn more or hold an upper position then certainly they will switch their job to some other organization. If people do not get their expected salary or promotion after working hard or in their desired time frame they got frustrated and de-motivated. In that situation the productivity of the employees significantly decreased and it is only possible to retain their productivity or interest towards their work to increase their salary and promote their position from the current designation.
In addition, through their work, employees again experiences and expertise in their lives and that have added values in their lives. According to the author statements those experiences and expertise does not have any values. An employee with a twenty years experience will be treated equally or getting same amount of money to a fresh graduate or vice versa. An experiences employee will guide the organization in a proper direction whereas an inexperienced employee will be unable to guide towards that direction and as a result (according to the flat structure theory) an experienced employee will get nothing and that is sheer injustice, indeed.
To lead an organization to achieve its goal, a proper and dynamic leadership is essential and it needs to be performed by the employees of the organization. Obviously, every employee can not be a leader, only one of them must be selected or step forward to hold the steering and thrive the organization towards it destination. In a flat organizational structure where every employees are being treated equal then the most important question arise and that is "who is going to lead the organization? Are rest of the employees going to listen to him/her or abide the command?" Most of the cases the answer will be negative as human psychology says that people will only listen to those who are superior or senior to them. Eventually there will be a conflict of the interest among the employees and vision of the organization will remain unachievable. Conversely, if it is a hierarchical organization then definitely there will be a boss or leader who will direct the organization, guide the employees to get the target and motivate them to do even better.
"Money is the father of everything", a common says firmly established in every society. The university where I am holding a lecturer position and have been teaching for last four months is paying me much more than the previous one where I was a senior lecturer. The only reason that I had sacrificed my designation was money as I am getting higher amount of money as a lecturer compare to the senior lecturer of my previous work place. Though his claim may well have merit, the author presents a poorly reasoned argument, based on several questionable premises and assumptions, and based solely on the evidence the author offers; we cannot accept his argument as valid. In any means the organization should not have the flat structure where every employee will be treated equally in terms of financially or in designation. If it happens then employees dream will be shattered, their motivation for hard work will be diminishing and finally organizational vision will be unreachable.
