GMAT Practice tests - how accurate?

by esiverts » Sat Jul 28, 2012 7:24 pm
I took the full-length practice exam today from the GMATPrep software.

I scored 40 on verbal, 42 on Quant and 8 on IR. 670 overall.

How accurate can I expect these score to be? Honestly, I was surprised at the score. I ran out of time on IR and Quant with a couple questions unanswered on each. I was also distracted by my husband and baby through the 2nd half of the test and had a really difficult time concentrating.

Is it possible I might actually be able to pull off a 650 score next week if I scored like that on the practice exam? Or are those practice exams hit-or-miss?

These tests are pretty accurate. However some people do less on actual test than on practice tests due to exam stress. If I were you I would try to hit 700 on GMAT Prep, so even if you have a bad day you would still get a 650.

GMAT Score:730

My practice tests were totally predictive. I scored a 720 and a 740 on the GMAT prep software and then got a 730 on the final test. Talk about averaging out. I'd say your distraction level might parallel the stress level you experience during the exam, depending on how you react under pressure.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
