gmat scoring pattern

by nikhilkatira » Wed Jul 07, 2010 4:22 am
guys please help me..

last week i gave Manhattan GMAT test and scored 42 in verbal with 12 wrong questions

today I gave GMAT Prep test and scored 32 in verbal with 12 wrong questions.

does GMAT penalize so harshly for each wrong question ?

Note: all wrong questions were equally spread.

only once I got continuous wrong questions ie 3 questions wrong in 1RC , coincidentally this case happened in both tests.

Even if difficulty level was different, 32 is too low.

While both tests provide a pretty accurate analysis of your score the GMATPrep software is usually the more accurate predictor of the two. They also use different algorithms because of the way that these tests are first made (testing on students with their own question banks). Did you really miss the exact same questions (question 5,7,11 for example). That's pretty crazy if you did. Anyway, don't worry about the Prep score too much. It is what it is. Just learn from your mistakes, study a bit more, and take another. You might have just had an off day
