lawnmower

According to a study concerning environmental economics, any manufacturer that offers an environmentally sound lawnmower, such as a manual push mower, will almost certainly reap a huge profit because consumers say that they want a mower that requires neither gasoline nor electricity. A spokesman for the trade association of gasoline lawnmower manufacturers asserted that this claim had little factual support.

Which of the following, if true, would best support the claim made by the spokesperson?

A) A majority of the public believes that the price of gasoline is too high.

B) The last manufacturer of manual push lawnmowers just declared bankruptcy because of declining profits.

C) More people refuse to purchase electric lawnmowers than gasoline lawnmowers.

D) The profit margin on lawnmowers is very low.

E) Most people mow their lawns less often then professionals recommend.

Premise: Study says that manual lawn mowers will reap huge profits because consumers say that they do not want mowers that run on electricity or gasoline.
Spokesperson says that there is no fact to support this study.

We need to find a statement that would support what the spokesperson has to say. Or in other words, find a fact that proves that manual lawn movers are not beneficial.

Of the given options, only option B says this by telling us that one of the manual lawn mowers company has filed bankruptcy because of declining profits.

Correct Option: B
