Hi ,

People with serious financial problems are so worried about money that they cannot be happy. Their misery makes everyone close to them-family, friends, and colleagues-unhappy as well. Only if their financial problems are solved can they and those around them be happy.
Which one of the following statements can be properly inferred from the passage?
A. Only serious problems make people unhappy.
B. People who solve their serious financial problems will be happy.
C. People who do not have serious financial problems will be happy.
D. If people are unhappy, they have serious financial problems.
E. If people are happy, they do not have serious financial problems.


I was confused between B and E. I don't understand why CBis wrong.. cause its mentioned 'Only if their financial problems are solved can they and those around them be happy. '

IMO: E

premise is: people with financial problems are unhappy

(i.e) financial problems -> unhappy,

A: serious problems causes unhappiness. But it is not the only cause.

B: people who solve their problems is out of scope

c: no financial problems -> happy; this is wrong; because people not having financial problems can have any other problems that makes them unhappy.

d: unhappy means they have financial problems; this is wrong because this is the reverse of the premise. unhappy means that they can have any other problems apart from financial problems.

e: happy means no financial problems; this is correct because happy means that they don't have any problem and hence no financial problems

Correct Ans is E..

X->Y

So

not Y-> Not Y

Here,
financial prob-> not happy

so

happy -> no financial prob..

So ANS is E..

Thanks Chandra , I now know why B is wrong.
