Require a profile evaluation ,please help!

by jsndsz » Sun Oct 27, 2013 7:54 am
Hello,

I graduated in 2010 and was selected in Bosch via campus. I was one among 23 people to be selected for this in India.
It is a special scheme known as the "TMT scheme" where we are put under fast track growth.

I had taken up the GMAT last year with a score of 660 (Q49,V31).AWA 5. IR 6. I was not very interested in pursuing an MBA with 2 years work exp then and had given the exam just so that i could finish it. (Im given to understand the score is valid for 5 years)
My toefl score was 113.

This year i retook the Gmat with all seriousness as i wanted to get an admit for the 2014 batch. Scored 710 (Q48, V38) AWA 6 . IR 7.

I am targeting the top schools and would like to Pursue Supply Chain management or operations.
Marketing would be my last choice if all else fails.

Berkeley Haas, UCLA, Ross, Tuck , LSB were some of the schools i was looking at
Do not know how far fetched a dream this is with my profile

My short term goal is to work in a service based industry after my MBA in a field of supply chain (Not necessarily manufacturing)
This would help me gain the necessary skill sets and knowledge which would help me accomplish my long term goal, starting a service based company to provide a long term substantial fix for all supply chain related problems.

My work profile currently is as follows

"¢ A part of the global purchasing team, responsible for Electromechanical commodity parts .
"¢ Decision maker for a purchase volume of 2100 MINR.
"¢ Responsible for development and management of vendors.
"¢ Working with multiple vendors to determine the best deals for the company, and evaluating the pros and cons of each, based on price, quality, speed of delivery and other factors.
"¢ Responsible for development of alternate sources for critical components.
"¢ Conduct annual price negotiations .
"¢ Planning and forecasting for all Electromechanical commodities in India
"¢ Interact often with German, Chinese and Japanese counterparts for new enquiries.
"¢ Key user for data management., ERP and tools such as SAP ,SRM and MCR

My extra curricular activities

"¢ Completed A1 in German.
"¢ Play guitar for a semi professional band
"¢ Was part of the college football team and won inter college tournaments
"¢ Riding enthusiast
"¢ Captain of the college gaming team

I would need your help initially in shortlisting the colleges as i am not sure where i stand
Thanks in advance for a reply

Those are good target schools. You might choose some less selective schools that are also strong in supply chain/logistics like Tepper and Krannert as more safety schools.

Also, one way to gauge how U.S. MBA schools factor your program is to see which graduates of your program are accepted to which U.S. schools. I tried to do a quick LinkedIn search for you by your program and MBA but only 3 people came up, none of which had graduated from U.S. MBA schools. https://www.linkedin.com/vsearch/p?keywo ... &orig=MDYS
