Hello,
I took the GMAT today for the first time and scored a disappointing 590. I've been studying for the exam using Veritas Prep for the last 3 months fairly consistently, although I slacked a bit in the last few weeks. I took several practice tests and scored in the range of 540 - 640. I have a high GPA (3.8) - summa cum laude and phi beta kappa - at a top NESCAC liberal arts school, solid recommendations and 4 years of applicable work experience in the sustainable investment management industry.
I'm planning on applying for the third round at HBS, Boston University, and Boston College. Since I took the GMAT very close to the application deadline, I've put myself on the hook to apply by May 1st with this score. However, I need to decide if it's worth it to try and take the GMAT exam again before I submit my applications? Right now I'm considering submitting this score, which is poor but not terrible, and try to shine as much as possible in the rest of my application. I only have a few weeks to knock out solid application essays.
I could use some advice on whether my expectations are realistic - that I'm still in the game with a GMAT score of 590 with schools like BU and BC?
Your advice is much appreciated!!
