Are TestTakers given certain stuffs

by ani781 » Thu Sep 19, 2013 8:44 am
Are Test-Takers given certain stuffs:
a) Headphones noise cancelling or ear plugs...
b) scratch pads and pens ? Are these scratch pads laminated, and are the pens micro felt tipped for finer writing.... also are these pads erasable or the proctor gives new pads , once a scratch pad is used up?

Please let me know if something else also is provided or should be kept in mind.

Thanks!

Hi ani781,

Most Pearson Test Centers will provide you with some "noise-cancelling" device (either headphones or earplugs, but not both). You are not allowed to bring your own.

As far as the scratch pads are concerned, the standard pad is "legal pad" sized, with 6 laminated, double-sided sheets in a spiral notebook. The marker is a wet-erase marker. If (at any point during the exam) you want a new pad, you can signal to the Moderator and he/she will bring you a new pad (and take your old pad away). The logical time to ask for a new pad is during the break, so that you don't have to wait for one while your test is running.

Hello!
So Rich covered the stuff that you will receive pretty well. Some things to keep in mind though:

1) You won't be able to bring water or a watch into the testing room. So make sure you practice without these things.

2) Don't bring your notes to the testing center. If you're caught looking at them during your break you could get in trouble.

3) If you come to the testing center early some places will allow you to start the test early depending on how many people are currently taking the exam.

Cheers!
Dan

Here's the complete list of items not permitted during the test session: https://www.mba.com/the-gmat/test-day/wh ... enter.aspx

Sorry, no firearms :-)

If you're interested, the GMAT test-makers created a nice video on the test-center experience (https://youtu.be/1kK-QuuZeuw). The video contains all sorts of useful info.

Cheers,

Thanks Brent .. but however , in this orientation video there is no mention of any noise cancelling device being given ... Can you please confirm if they do give earbuds or headphones?

Thanks in advance.

That's odd that they don't mention that.
I recall that the test center gave me noise-reducing headphones when I wrote.

To confirm whether or not this is standard issue, you might want to post this question in the Ask The Test-Maker forum: https://www.beatthegmat.com/ask-the-test-maker-f71.html

Hi Brent, Thanks for your reply . I checked with the test center. They have both options, up to the candidate to choose from.
