CAT Scores vs The Real GMAT - Post yours here

by HTTR » Wed Sep 04, 2013 12:54 pm
I'm trying to compile some statistics to establish the relationship between CAT exams and the real thing.

Post your last CAT exam score (or average CAT exam score in the couple weeks before you took the actual GMAT) - obviously, don't post your initial scores when you hadn't started prep/had just begun prep- looking for scores during the 1-2 week window leading up to the exam. And of course, post your official score on the real thing.

Post all that apply:
-MGMAT
-Kaplan
-Veritas
-The real GMAT

Once this thread gets enough sample, I'll compile and post the findings.

Thanks!

Hi HTTR,

I like your initiative in regards to starting this type of project. As a friendly suggestion though, you're going to have to gather more data than just the CAT scores to determine if a particular set of CATs matches the actual GMAT (or whatever your end goal is).

The DETAILS matter, so you're going to have to consider many additional details. Here are some that immediately come to mind AND would have a significant impact on one's performance: day of week of test, time of day of test, if the student skipped any of the sections (such as skipping the essay and/or IR), testing location (public vs. private), type of computer (laptop vs workstation), notetaking tools (pencil/pen/paper vs. marker/eraseboard).
