Unable to take a Decision...Please Help...!!!

Hi,
Here is a bit about myself and my GMAT scores.

GMAT Scores : 580 (48/21)
awaiting my AWA results (hoping that I'd be getting 5 or 6 there)

Looking forward to apply for Melbourne Business School, RSM (Netherlands), NUS (Singapore), Asian Institute of Management (Manila)

Work Experience : 25 months as a Software Engineer in a support project requiring IT and Marketing Business knowledge in a reputed Software Firm in India. Very much interested in continuing in the field of Marketing as an MBA in Oil and Gas industry.

GPA : 1.7 (considering the fact that 3.0 is the highest in the entire university)

Co-curricular Activities: Guitarist and given many solo concerts with audiences of 3000+, poet. Table Tennis player and have represented my state in my school days, Quiz (no major prizes there), involved in organizing a technical Electronics and Communication Fest back in my Engineering days, organized the Pictionary and Dumb-charades competitions in college.

Was the SPOC for a Corporate Social Responsibility and was directly involved in disseminating knowledge about software and technology for the under preveliged kids. Another CSR activity is again on the cards to be implemented on Jan 1st.

Problem : I know my GMAT scores are 'not' upto the mark. So I was contemplating on taking up the GMAT again and still have this option open. I happened to consult a local consultant here and I was told that with 580 as the score I could straight away apply for the B-schools. Will I be able to do so? or is it suggested that I take up the GMAT again and if I do what is the target score that I have to focus on in my second attempt? The admissions department of the Melbourne Business School replied back to my mail saying that they would generally look out candidates scoring above 570 and that the current average score in selection is 650.

Please let me know my chances. Do I have to take up the GMAT again or can I apply with whatever score I have?

Thanks & Regards,
Sanjai.
