According to a recent study conducted at over 100 American universities, the number of college graduates interested in pursuing a career in financial services is likely to double by 2010.

"¢ is likely to double

"¢ Are likely to increase by twice

"¢ Are likely to double

"¢ Will double

"¢ Will increase by twice

A basic subject verb agreement sentence but there is something else as well. Just see the sentence and have some discussions. I will post the OA later..

IMO A.
The Number of...singular. So we are down to options A and D. Since Will represents certainty, and the study cannot for certain predict that the number will double, hence I will go with A.

IMO
[A]
Analysis-
'the number of' is singular therefore are is ruled out.. eliminating
and [C]
.
also its likely today hence present should be used.. eliminating
[D] and [E]
.

Thus,
[A]
is the right choice!!
If you feel like it, hit thanks :)
