Profile evaluation

by boom » Sat Dec 13, 2008 3:19 pm
I would appreciate any feedback or comments about my profile, thanks.

Male, 30

I will take the GMAT for the 1st time in February. I am anticipating a score of 650+. I have completed a local GMAT prep course have have a few books that I am studying from.

I have a BA in music performance from the University of Utah, GPA 3.7. Other classes I have taken since graduating from college are calculus, physics, and quite a few programming courses. I also started a graduate program in music, but only completed 1 year before deciding that a career in music is not what I wanted to pursue.

My work experience has been mainly in manufacturing environments. 4 years with a small business which produced outdoor equipment (rock climbing holds and accessories). 1 year with a larger outdoor company as a product supervisor. I am currently working for a medical manufacturing company as a production/shift manager and have been here for 3.5 years.

I have trained and certified as a green belt in six sigma process control. Also, I have completed first responder training and am part of my company’s first aid team.

Other extracurricular activities include teaching music master classes, participating in community orchestras, free lancing as a musician, and participating with the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance.

The schools that I am looking into are McGill, Santa Clara University , Presidio School of Management and University of British Columbia .

Dear boom,

Based on your post, you have an interesting profile with some unique experiences in music. Your GPA is also strong. For the target schools you gave, I would think any GMAT score starting with a 6 would be competitive (higher is better, of course).

Good luck,
Lisa
