I just Beat The GMAT!

Hey all...

First off, I'm looking at MS in accounting programs.

I took the GMAT yesterday and earned a shocking 560. My practice scores usually ranged from 640-670, with verbal scores in scaled 40-42 points. I scored better in quantitative than in verbal today (wow, the irony). So yah, I'm dazed.

I'm applying to Northeastern University, among others. The average GMAT score of enrolled students in the Northeastern MS in accounting/MBA program is 580.The average GPA is 3.25. Northeastern is my first choice, and I also hoped to receive a scholarship upon acceptance. I have a GPA of 3.89 from a small, no-name college. Now that my chances of getting a scholarship (or an assistantship of some sort) are slim, I'm wondering if I could even get in.

I've sent in application materials already. I have no full-time work experience (none is required for the program--they usually admit newly graduated liberal arts students), but I have leadership experience and am engaged in various extracurricular activities. Do I retake the GMAT or hope for the best? Please advice me...

I honestly don't know what happened. Maybe I was overconfident in my abilities (I scored 640 on my first cold test). I didn't put too much strategy into my studying and I regret it now. But 560? 560???? I'm considering retaking the test, but I have a month's deadline (in order to meet up with application due dates and others). The application deadline is January 15th and they accept only official GMAT scores. How do I formulate and carry out a plan strategy within a month? I need a good gmat score because I NEED an assistantship. Please help me out. I cannot also go for prep courses because I live in a rural area.

I'm writing to all those folks who are in despair after scoring 560 in GMAT. I reassure you guyz, 560 is not a bad score. With this score, I've got admission offer from International Business School, Brandeis University, Massachusetts, USA for MBA fall 2008 entry. What is most exciting is that they've also offered me 50% tuition scholarship (USD 18,336/year). If that was not enough, they also offered me a 10 year 5% fixed rate loan which will contribute another 33% of my tuition. I'll start paying off the principal and interst 6-months after my graduation.

In other words, I'll have to pay only 17% of my tuition and all other living costs from my own pocket in 2 years.

So, no worries, people! Prop up your Essays & Recommendation letters, and you'll also see wonders as I do.
