your opinion on goal essays

by mmon » Wed Aug 24, 2011 9:05 pm
My profile goes something like this - almost 9 years WE( little old!),have worked in two functional domain - Supply chain(5 Yrs) and Investment Banking( still working, 4+) as IT consultant/project manager, posses strong functional knowledge in both.
In long run I want to be an entrepreneur( common story) - two question
1) To be an entreprenuer, what kind on work exp align with the goal ( to me any job any domain aligns, true?)?
2) In short term post-MBA what kind of sector I should be focusing on for my job to gain more experience?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

"Entrepreneur" is not really a career goal, but rather a function. Writing "I want to found a company that will create specialized software for Investment banking" is a career goal, because its specific, it tells us what you want to do, and gives us a specific industry.

Whatever you DO decide to write,t he important thing is that it make sense in terms of your career. As for your short term goals, the best short term goals are those that prepare you for your long term goals, so its better to start from the end, and work your way backwards.
