How do I leverage my China experience

Sorry, I'm not sure that whether it's appropriate to post this topic on the forum. But I'll still hope that experts,senior members or MBA alumni could give me advise.

I'll fly to China on Oct 10th, and my job is researching China financial market. This is my first job. I'm 24 years old, and major in Economics.

After 3-5 years, I intend to study MBA. After MBA, I would like to enter a Consulting Firm ( MBB or Big 4 ) or IB. However, I'm not working in a BIG or global firm although my firm is located on suburban of Shanghai.

In addition to Working hard to accumulate my experience.
How do I leverage my China opportunity to enrich my resume ? or What should I do in China in order to enhance my resume ?

Hi,

You are planning well ahead which is smart. In reply to your question, your experience in China can certainly be an asset for both your career advancement and MBA plans.

Even though you may not be currently working for a global firm, you should seek professional opportunities during your time there to gain leadership experiences, project management responsibilities, and teamwork well. Some of these you may be able to negotiate for once you are settled in your role and have proven yourself. All these skill sets, along with your international experience, will be valuable when preparing for business school. If you don't speak Mandarin already, this would be great to learn during your time in Shanghai.

You still have a few years to take the GMAT, but often it's better to do this while you are still in the studying mode. So you may want to start practicing soon.

Good luck - it sounds like you have a fantastic adventure ahead!
