Hi Linda,

If you are granted a deferral for a year, can you get "in trouble" by applying to other schools in the interim? Would there be any other recourse (getting blacklisted by multiple schools, etc.) besides losing one's deposit?

Schools don't like it if they know you are using the deferral to apply to "better" schools. However, I haven't heard of anyone being blacklisted or suffering from any other negative consequences for doing so. The most common consequence is in increasing reluctance on the part of schools to grant deferrals for any reason to anyone.
