part time 2011

by afenster » Sun Jun 13, 2010 11:35 am
All,

I just finished taking the GMAT and I am very disappointed with my score. This is my second time taking it and I got the same score - 640!
I want to pursue a part-time MBA program at a top 10 school. I am thinking to apply to:
1) NYU Stern - Langone weekends
2) U. Chicago part-time
3) Columbia/LBS/HKU Global Asia EMBA
4) Northwestern
Can I please have some candid advice on whether I have a decent chance to get admitted to any of the above?
My profile:
Undergraduate: B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University (Decision Science, minor in Business); low overall GPA as I started out in Biology - major GPA is 3.4
Work experience: total of 5 years; 3 years buy-side equity analyst in New York with Bank of America; current - emerging markets management strategy consulting for Fortune 100 firms... I manage a team of 7 and travel frequently to Asia, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa. I joined my current firm during its start-up phase had a significant impact in making the firm profitable, scaling our business to $20 million in sustainable revenue (100%+ growth y-o-y) and expanding our client base to 200 leading multi nationals... all during the global downturn.
I have a track record of leadership and am a star performer at my current job (got promoted 3 times in two years).
Background: half American and half Indian. I grew up in a village in India and have been travelling globally since my childhood. My father is from a Russian Jewish American family and my mother is from a traditional Indian family.
I really don't want the GMAT to hold me back as I would like to pursue an MBA in 2011.
I would appreciate any help or advice.

Best,

Adeem
