My first steps towards conquering the GMAT test!!!

In your view, to what extent should government or any other group be able to censor television or radio programs? Explain, giving relevant reasons and/or examples to support your position.
In some countries, television and radio programs are carefully censored for offensive language and behaviour. In other countries, there is little or no censorship. In my write up below I will support the countries that do not have little or no censorship.
In my view, there should not be any censorship to the television and the radio programs, as everybody who watches or listens to the television and the ratio programs respectively, is capable of thinking what is good for him or her and for their family. And government has little or no role on how people should think.
Those governments who have censorship on television and radio try to emphasize their people that how much they care for their citizens. In India the censorship certificate is essential before movie starts its public viewing. The censorship committee has the veto to offer which certificate to be awarded to the movie, this committee changes hands after every 5 years and so as their thoughts. That's why Indian censorship certificate always keeps confusing their people. Some tv shows even with the abusive language and very vulgar picturization now-a-days gets the good certificate, over few movies that has less vulgar picturization but produced 10 years back got the bad certificate. So, if someone chooses to select the movies from his earlier experience then he is going to provide an abusive and the vulgar TV shows to his kids.
Also how can the group of people on the censorship committee decides what the billions of people will watch and listen? This should be the choice of individuals to choose what viewer wants to watch. Everything should be made available to him, and as per his choice later he can decide. And with the advanced technologies like child lock every individual can restrict their kids from viewing and listening particular TV shows. And government should not take decision on be-half of billions of people.As well in the censored country like India, the committee is always chosen by the government and they are most of the time ruling party's actor turned politicians. So the government has full control over this censorship certification, and most of the time they allow the programs which will support their party's view.
So in my view, as the democratic government always says they provide their citizen with the freedom of speech and expression, they should abide by this and should not interfere with the broadcasting media. Let the people choose what is good for them.
