Set A consists of integers -9, 8, 3, 10, and J; Set B consists of integers -2, 5, 0, 7, -6, and T. If R is the median of Set A and W is the mode of set B, and R^W is a factor of 34, what is the value of T if J is negative?
(A) -2
(B) 0
(C) 1
(D) 2

B

Given J is negative, median of se A is 3. which implies 3^w is a factor of 34. as w is the mode it shud be one of the values of Set B. out of the values (-2,0,5,-6,7) ,3^0=1 is the only number which can be the factor of 34. (3^-9 is a fraction,3^8 is greater than 34 and so on). so 0 is the mode of B.

whts the source btw?

A E{-9, -ve(J), 3, 8, 10}
B E{-2,5,0,7,-6,T} W is the mode of set B
R^W=34, 34/3^W possible when W=0 // W can not be -1 or -2 ... then 34*3 or 34*9 are not modes of set B
hence T=0 to make mode in set B

answer B
My knowledge frontiers came to evolve the GMATPill's methods - the credited study means to boost the Verbal competence. I really like their videos, especially for RC, CR and SC. You do check their study methods at https://www.gmatpill.com
