Hi all,
I appeared for my GMAT exam 2 weeks ago and scored 650 (Q:49, V:29), AWA: 4.0
Although I did not score as per my expectations (700), this score is a kind of OK for me.
Well, I will be summarizing few good things and few not-so-good things that I did during the preparation and in the exam hall so that the rest may benefit from it.
Good part
1) Joined BTG and followed the guidance and experiences of the members and experts.
2) Worked like a maniac on OG, quant and verbal review: did almost every problem, identified weak areas and worked on the same.
3) Did GMAT Prep1 5+ times to extract as many questions as possible.
4) Though came to know about following two resources very late (just 3 days before exam) but found these two resources AMAZING
a) Ron Purewal and other MGMAT experts explanation of doubts in Verbal section
I really admire the MGMAT staff for their knowledge and regret not getting a coaching from them
b) GMATFix.com Solution Engine - After browsing through this website I realized that practicing GMAT Prep1 5+ times to extract 700+ level questions was nothing but a waste of efforts and time. This SE has all GMAT Prep questions arranged in the order of difficulties and that too with explanation of every answer. I believe this resource is good for all those who want to practice 700+ Real GMAT questions without spending too much of the precious time on GMAT Prep.
Thanks Patrick for giving the free access during last 4 days of my exam. Really appreciate your website and your efforts in designing it.
Not-so-good part
1) I did not plan well - yes it may seem to contradict my Good part statement 2 but I feel that could have planned my preparation in a more structured way.
2) Non-native speaker - I read somewhere stated on this forum that everyone can not improve his Verbal in few months. If one is a non-native speaker he may have to work on his basics of grammar (that I did not).
3) Got nervous in the Verbal Section. Could not answer first few questions confidently and fell in the vicious circle of wrong attempts
4) Lastly, found the actual GMAT (atleast Verbal section) tougher than any of the OG, VR, QR or GMAT Prep
Will start improving my basics of verbal section and give a second attempt
and
will keep following BTG...............
Cheers,
Sparkz07
