Round 2 vs Round 3 at Cornell Johnson

I have looked but didn't see any other topics on this. Could anyone who has experience, or one of the experts, comment on the the differences between the two? Will your application be viewed much more favorably in R2 than R3? I was visiting schools last week and then thanksgiving threw a wrench in my application process so I am sort of scrambling. Have (what I think are) good 1st drafts of all of the essays but fear putting them in Thursday and them not being as good as they could be.

Since Cornell has 4 rounds, round 3 in't the no-no it is at other schools. Round 2 is better if your app is ready but don't submit a rushed app if it's not.

Yep. The earlier the better. But R3 in Cornell gives you chances, so feel free to apply. It's always the LAST round that is a killer (some schools even have 5,6 rounds)

Hi John
With every progressing round it becomes more and more competitive. However assuming you application is equally strong in all the rounds you should worry that much. To avoid stress it is generally advised to apply early. If you feel you need time on your application and are not satisfied you should ensure make your application string and apply in round 3.

Thanks for the replies. I decided by the end of Monday that my application just wasn't where it needed to be. Going to apply R3. Hope it doesn't hurt too much because I do really like the school but wanted to make sure I put forth my best self.
