GMAT Prep Scores

Hi,

Is the paid exam pack of GMATPrep easier than the two free GMATPrep Practice Exams.

I gave 3 GMATPreps Exams and one Veritas Exam...

Veritas Score- 710
GMATPrep Free Practice Exam 1 - 690
GMATPrep Free Practice Exam 1 - 680
GMATPrep Paid Practice Exam 1 - 740

Which is a more reliable indicator of my score on the actual GMAT?

Also can anyone predict my score range??

Hi Abhijit K,

GMAC has publicly stated that the score that you earn on your Official GMAT is within +-30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in your practice CAT scores, you're scoring right around 710 (+-30 points). Keep in mind that the accuracy of CAT results depends heavily on how YOU choose to take the CATs. The more realistic and 'test-like' you make those experiences, the more likely the score results are to be accurate. If you deviate from the standard Test Day 'event' (skipping sections, pausing the CAT, taking it at home, taking it at a different time of day from your Official Test time, etc.), your scores can deviate too.

The quick (and guaranteed!) answer is somewhere from 200 to 800 inclusive.
The long answer is: "it depends"

Are you someone who crumbles under the pressure of a formal testing environment? Or are you someone who rises to the challenge and actually outperforms all previous practice tests?

I mention this because I think it's VERY important to adopt a proper mindset on test day. This can make or break your test. To this end, you may be interested in reading the following articles:

I think the paid exam pack should be the same as the free one, but as Rich said it can fluctuate and the best indicator of your score is the one taken under as close to test like situation as possible. This means you completed the AWA and IR sections and only took the allotted 8 minute breaks. Doing otherwise will likely give you a higher score than you might receive on test day.

Hi Abhijit,

There are several tests available in the market. The most reliable is GMAC. The score range that you can look at is +/-30 from the practice tests. The point that you need to be careful about is the test taking skills. The test taking situation should be realistic & close to the test taking situation. The time at which you take the test, taking the complete test (don't skip any section) & also take the breaks as you would while taking the real test. Also make sure that there are no disturbances & unwarranted breaks. All these will help you to analyse what your real GMAT score will be & ensure that you get the score that you want.
