Please post with all the options.
I see problem with both the options, option 1 uses only "mutual" and not "mutual fund"

early retirement is correct usage.
retiring early - It is not working as a gerund here, instead, trying to act as a verb when we already have a verb "recommend" in postion.So, what follows should be an object instead - retirement ( noun).

please post the complete question so that everyone can analyse and reply.
