Quick Question. I am doing Pythagorean Theorem. a^2+b^2=c^2

so if have 5^2+10^2=c^2

The question is how to you get 5square root 5 without using the calculator??? please explain in details.

5^2+10^2=c^2

25 + 100 = c^2

sqrt(125) = c

sqrt(25*5) = c

sqrt(25) * sqrt(5)= c

5*sqrt(5) = c

The key is to look for a perfect square (in this case, 25) that can be factored out of the term under the radical.
