Can someone please help me. I am horrible in taking standardized test, especially multiple choice. I did my schooling in India where there are no multiple choice questions, just essays to write.
I am having a hard time understanding GMAT concepts let alone go through the answer choices.
Some one told me that there is a method in taking the GMAT test and it is very easy, since that person worked for ETS -- they never told me the method.
PLEASE HELP! I am registered to take the test on 9/9.

I am not aware of any easy method for mastering the GMAT--just lots of practice and discipline. If you can find your friend and convince him/her to tell you the secret to aceing the GMAT, please be sure to share this knowledge with the rest of the forum!
A good place to begin your study is to read through my blog: https://beatthegmat.blocked
I blogged my GMAT prep experience in meticulous detail. I think you'll find the site helpful.
Best of luck!

Hey Eric -
I looked at your day to day acitivities. You seem to jump from Day 1 to Day 12. What did you study in between the 11 days??

It should all be there. Go to: https://beatthegmat.blocked. On the right-hand side, where all the links are, look for a section called "GMAT Prep Study Guide." Click on the links under that section to get to all the blog entries.
Best of luck!

Hey Eric -
I am registered user and tried downloading your cards this morning but to no avail. I was welcomed with a blank screen with a tiny window in the upper left hand corner, any ideas as to what I am doing wrong.
Currently I am scoring a 390 on the kaplan GMAT, but I need to raise it to a 750. YIKES!!!!!

Don't feel too frustrated--that's why there' practice.wildblueyonder06 wrote:So, I took the Princenton's Warm-up test from the book and out of 20 questions, I only got 6 correct. I guess I need more practice. I am just so frustrated.
After your exam, did you take the time to go through your mistakes and understand why/how you made a mistake? To improve your score, it's critical that you take time to review your errors and read through explanations, so you don't repeat your mistakes in the future.
Best of luck and keep ya head up!

Yes, Eric. I am writing the wrong answers on a separate notebook.
I just have to do more practice.

wildblueyonder06,
Listen. I feel your pain. The first time to took this test, I went through Princeton Review with a private tutor, and scored very low... below 500, which is no where close to the score I needed to get into the schools I had my eyes on. I am in the process of studying again... and have been for months. I have taken numerous tests, and still am scoring quite low. I am just not ready.
It's hard to juggle work and GMAT studying... I have had dreams about missing my opportunity to get back into school.... it's not an easy test. Really, the best of the best are the ones that are helping out the most here... the ones that have passed the 700 "wall"... All I know is that tonight, I will try another practice test, and see what happens. (I went through what I got wrong on my last horrible outcome of a test, and I am going to try it again) For me, it's the time... the amount of time I have on the test is my enemy.... so I am going to plug through, and hopefully get the test completed by the end of this year with somewhere around a 600.
Keep on plugging though. There are others out there just like you.

Thank you for Brian for your post, it really helps to know that there others out there like me. You are right, I have a full-time job and than the GMAT.
But, I registered to take this test on December 16, 2006 and am not rescheduling it anymore. I have had it. I am going to take this test and do well on it. I just need to put on the seatbelt and go through with it. I know there will be a lot of sleepless nights.
After taking the test I am going on a nice vacation, I hope. Just as a reward.
