hi there...why do you think you're not supposed to mention how an MBA will help you reach your career goals and internship goals? i don't think that's true. in fact, i think it's quite relevant to show the adcom a realistic view on how attending their program will be helpful.

when i was on the adcom at Kellogg, we always looked for a few important factors re: career goals. they were:
(1) focus. are you specific enough about what you want? do you speak the language of the industry? do you know what it takes to work in that chosen field? or are you just saying you want to "consult"?
(2) realistic. is there anything in your background that makes your goals feel plausible? or is just day dreaming?
(3) time bound. when is all of this going to happen?

I think he meant that it would be a landmine to mention that his purpose in going to business school is to network.

Two pieces of advice:
1) Mention what you bring to the table. Why do people want to network with YOU?
2) Have other reasons that James' article helps you come up with. You can network at lots of places--why network at an MBA program? What other skills do you think are important to gain for your field and how will an MBA make that happen?

MBA is the most popular degree for higher education students. MBA often accompanied by higher pay and position like CEO and CFO.Although MBA is expensive and it takes 2 years to complete, many students find that MBA is well worth the effort, specifically more career opportunity, a higher salary and better networking.
