Best 4 month GMAT Strategy

by limrick101 » Mon May 17, 2010 12:16 pm
Long story short: My dream is to be a tax professor. I have to apply to Doctoral Accounting Programs. I have strong Academic Background (went to Notre Dame Undergrad and Masters), have Big 4 Accounting Experience, Have tuaght a graduate Partnerships class for a Semester, and been Pulbished in two tax Magazines.

Sadly, the weakest part of my application is my GMAT score. The best score I have ever reached is a 580 (Over 5 years ago).

The score I used for my applications this past year was a 530 (32 V, 30Q).

In order for me to get into most programs I am looking at I need at least a 680. A 700 would pretty much make me a lock to get in.

I need help coming up with a 4 month plan to beat the GMAT. I have to submit a test score on Oct. 1st. I have tried the Kaplan class and it didn't help me this last time I took the test.

I want to self study myself to a 700.

Does anyone out in beatthegmat have a story that mirrors mine (making a low 500 score into a 700 in 4 months)

I am determined to reach my dream.

Please share with me what you did so I can come up with my study plan.

Let me know if you have any other questions. And remember: large score gains are very possible. Practice practice practice.

Cheers,
Josh
