one qustion isnt "after the end of the 1973 drought" redundant

Hi vipulgoyal,

The "intent" and meaning of this sentence changes if you remove the phrase (or any reference to) "after the end of the 1973 drought." Since the drought was over 40 years ago, the fact that "these people continue to suffer from...malnutrition" becomes all the more significant. The introduction of "the drought" is also used to explain WHY the people are suffering from malnutrition (70% of the cattle were lost, so there was less food).
