Verification of EC

by rajarajan » Wed Mar 03, 2010 12:37 am
Hi All,

If for certain EC activities one doesnot have a certificate/ referral letter, should they be listed in the appln / stated in interview?

(OR)

Should we list down only those, for which there have been awards or certificates issued?

Pl suggest/share your experiences.

Hello,

You should certainly list the items that you actually did, regardless of whether you can "certify" or "prove" them. If the adcom has any questions, they can ask you. But they will give you the benefit of the doubt for honesty. Consider these two points: (1) Adcoms are reasonable. They understand reality. Many people undertake valuable, meaningful activities that may not be provable years later and/or may not have occurred under the guise of a formal organization. Adcoms understand this fact. (2) Adcoms want to glean a vivid, full picture of the applicants; that's the purpose of these questions on the application. They would not be able to do so if applicants mentioned only those activities for which they can prove involvement in the form of documentation or other means.
