waive the right to examine recommendation?

Can you guys tell me if I could keep the right to examine the reco or will affect the credibility of recon negatively?
How do I know what my recommendation writers are saying about me?

well in my case, I did not sign the section to waive my right.

I guess I would explain in one of my optional essay the reason I chose not to waive the right is that I would be interested to learn how my 2 recommenders (both of my work superiors) evaluate me outside of an office environment...
