Supporting Evidence

by PSUMSFA » Wed May 19, 2010 1:35 pm
The instructions for both essays state that any points, arguments, positions, etc. be backed up with evidence (or personal experience). Normally this is obviously a good idea but, of course, we don't have access to research materials.

What if you get a question where you don't have any empirical evidence available from your memory? MBA.com gives examples of essays that scored a 6 (not that I necessarily need or want to score a 6) and at least one of them have very detailed information including figures and dates.

Thanks.

I think as your reading the argument you'll brain will start running saying "well what about this... what about that... what if this.." and THAT'S what you should write about. I took the GMAT a couple weeks ago and scored a 6 and in the second essay i brought in my experiences at work. I don't think it's so much about the evidence you cite as much as it is about how you cite it and back it up

hope that helps
