Career goal: Operations management consulting or general management consulting.

GMAT score: 680 (47q, 35v)

GPA: 3.3 - US Tier 2 School for Electrical Engineering

Total work experience - 5 years

Engineer - Hewlett-Packard (Houston)~ 2 years
Engieering Project Manager - Hewlett-Packard (Shanghai) ~2.5 years
Project Lead - Hewlett-Packard (Shanghai) ~3 months

My current role differs from the Engineering Project Manager as I now manage entire development process from product definition with Marketing all the way to production with Supply Chain. The EPM role only dealt with the hardware engineering aspect of things.

How likely do you think I would be accepted for Wharton/Harvard/Kellogg/Chicago with my profile?

Is my GMAT score too low to compete even though it falls within the 80% range?

Hello,

Your GMAT of 680 is not an automatic deal breaker, as it's not low enough to raise questions about your abilities. But the 3.3 GPA, while not bad, is not impressive either, so you come into the process without clear evidence of academic excellence - that total picture could be a problem. With a GPA and GMAT that aren't at the level of excellence desired by top MBA programs, to be a viable candidate you'd need to give the adcoms a strong reason to consider you seriously - I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it's a long shot.

Best regards,
