Hi,

Here is a detail of my current background :
I hold masters in commerce as well as Chartered Accountancy degree from India. I have 3 years of work experience which includes one year in an IT company and for the last 2 years I have been running my own manufacturing business. I have set up the entire business myself and have 2 other family businesses to look after. I also deal in marketing mutual funds for the last 5 years.
I am basically looking forward to pursue mba in finance and strategy, especially corporate finance. I want to continue running the existing businesses and also expand to include more products and services.

Although I have very strong academics, my only issue has been very low gmat scores - 610 with V 23 and Q 49. Though in the quant section I have scored well, the overall scores have dipped. I have tried my luck with GMAT four times, and this is the highest!

I have shortlisted the following universities on the basis of my interests:
Mays Business School
Carlson Business School
Cambridge University - UK
Kelley - Indiana Uni
Goizueta - Emory Uni
Fuqua - Duke uni

Is my selection criteria sensible or is it over the board? Will a low GMAT score hamper my application?

Any insight into this will be valuable as I am unable to take any decision further.

Thanks in advance

Am not an admissions consultant but just thought of writing. Hope I don't get flagged :)

I'd guess unless you have a GMAT 650+ it'd be hard to make it to Duke, Emory or Judge .. or any top school for that matter.

Unless you are an exceptional candidate - by exceptional I mean, unless you have demonstrated extra-ordinary experience as compared to your peers in whatever field you are .. that experience wouldn't probably act as a 'compensation' factor for a low GMAT score.

Just my 0.02$ and good luck
