Free JD/MBA, is it worth it?

by Workmyassoff » Sun Mar 20, 2011 7:27 pm
I was offered a free JD/MBA from the U. of Indiana. What are your thoughts on a 3 year program? I know that the program requires that the student attend classes over a summer which in turn would hurt internship opportunities. I am unsure as to whether it would be wise to get the JD with the MBA or if I should look into other options.

Thanks

Dear workmyassoff,

It depends on what your career goals are. If you know you want to ultimately get both a JD and an MBA, then it makes more sense to get them together on a shorter timeline (especially at that price!). If you are not sure you want to get one of these degrees, then it might not be a wise choice. In essence, your career path should utilize both degrees for you to advance. If a JD is not necessary, then why go through the extra year of school and some really tough courses?

Good luck,
Lisa
