I took the test last monday and scored a 710 (70th percentile on Q ond 95th on V). I will be heading to Michigan Law School in the fall and am planning on applying for the JD/MBA program during my first year. It is worth mentioning that I scored a 740 and 770 on my two GMATPrep tests so I was fairly disappointed with my score as I tend to do pretty well on "test day".
Background: Went to a top liberal arts college (w/ relatively little grade inflation) and had a GPA in the 3.5 range (over a 3.75 my last two years) and majored in a humanities subject. I spent a year working at a law firm focusing on Securities Law and spent the last year living abroad doing volunteer work and traveling.
My question really boils down to whether it's worth spending the time to re-study? My plan had been to take this time off to relax and prepare myself for the 1st year of law school as my grades will have an enormous impact on my employment prospects in any legal job. On the other hand, I genuinely want to pursue the MBA so I would strongly consider re-taking if a 30-40 point improvement would appreciably improve my prospects.
