Any number less than -1 must be negative. Since 3 is positive, the only way 3/x is negative is when x is negative. When x = -3, 3/x is equal to -1. When x < -3 (-4, -5, etc.), 3/x will be negative but between -1 and 0. So the only two integers where 3/x < -1 are -2 and -1. We can check this: 3/-2 = -1.5 which is less than -1. 3/-1 = -3 which is less than -1.

The answer is 2.
