Hello, I've just started studying for the GMAT so I'm sure I will have a ton of questions. Thank you in advance for your help.

What is the value of the two-digit integer x?
1. The sum of the two-digits is 3
2. x is divisible by 3

The answer is E. I don't understand why the answer is not C (they share 1 & 2 ).

Please help me to understand this in the correct way.

1. So we have a few possibilities for this statement 12, 21, 30 there is ambiguity so this statement alone is INSUFFICIENT

2. There are many 2 digit numbers divisible by 3 including 12, 15, 18, 21... etc So this statement alone is INSUFFICIENT

We are down to choices C & E.
If we combine both statements together there are still a few possible answers including 12, 21, and 30 as the sum of the digits adds up to three and all are divisible by 3. Since this is ambiguous the answer must be E.
