Circular arrangement with condition

by saloniarora » Sun May 20, 2012 1:31 am
6 people including A & B are to be arranged on a circular table. two arrangements are considered different only when the positions of the people are different relative to each other. If A & B sit on opposite chairs, how many different arrangements are possible?

a) 12
b) 24
c) 48
d) 60
e) 120

When we have A and B in opposite seats, lets make them fixed arrangements.

For other 4 arrangements, 4! = 24

and when A and B sit opposite there can be two combination of arrangements ( AB , BA)

So, 24 * 2 = 48
