Dear MBA Admission Consultant,

I am an Italian citizen in the US on a H1B visa, I have been working for three years as a researcher at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT.

I hold a PhD in molecular biology from Bari University and my gpa score at Genoa University was 4.0.

I have several international publications and I am considered a successful researcher in my field, however I feel that basic research is not what I want anymore, I need my work to have an impact earlier then 10-15 years down the road...

So I decided that an MBA would help me in the transition to the biotech industry and give me the ability to handle both scientific and business related issues.

I was planning to apply to Tuck, W.P. Carey at Arizona State, and UCONN. I prepared for the GMAT, one week before the exam I scored 740 on the GMATprep practice test from GMAC. I went saturday for the exam and,

I got an abysmal

610 (Q36 V38)

My problem is that I thought the test was going well and the good score on the practice test made me feel secure of my preparation.

Should I repeat the test or just hope that my curriculum, the PhD, and the fact that I have been working in the US will help balancing the GMAT score?
