Extending about 150 miles from Sedan in the west to beyond Wissembourg in the
east, the Maginot Line bristled with some 50 large fortifications, each within cannon
range of another.

A. all the cannons within range of another.
B. every within cannon range of another.
C. each canon within canon range of others.
D. each within cannon range of another.
E. all of them within cannon range of the others.

5o fortifications.Go for "each within cannon range of another."
For 2 fortifications use "each within cannon range of other."

that means if we have more than 2 things, we can use another.. and at the same time for 2 things we can use other..?

IMO D

C modifies the meaning in a way that is not intended. We do not know that (each = canon), canon range may be a unit,so here we want to say each entity is in canon range of another.
