although i don't like the 'her' being used everywhere because the stem says Francis Perkins' investigations and no just Francis Perkins.

You can eliminate A, B and D

In E So persistent is parallel to so dogged and seems a better choice.

IMHO - E

A , B, D are out because the "so .. that" construction is not properly met. Between C and E , E is definely better constructed.
