Profile evaluation

by BeattheVerbal » Mon Feb 03, 2014 5:03 am
Hi,

I am Female and Indian. Have 10 years of experience in IT and work at core technical level.
GPA: 65% in Engineering.
GMAT: 620
Achievements: Won few awards in my present organization for initiatives taken.
Extra curricular: Part of CSR in my organization. On-Off involvement. Nothing more

I am planning to retake GMAT and increase score to 680-700 and targeting schools in India. Could you please evaluate my profile and help me understanding whether my long work ex will put me in disadvantage?

Hi,

You can apply to one year PGPX programs in most of the IIM's and you can also apply to ISB, SP Jain, XLRI, Greatlakes. Most of these programs have average work ex of 5-7 years so no need to worry about your work ex, you are always at advantage with solid work ex which most of the top b-schools give more preference. Let me know if you have any questions...

Manish

Thanks Manish. There may not be issue for IIMs but not sure whether 10+ is fine with ISB. And, am worried because my work ex till now is purely technical. To improve my profile, have taken up few initiatives in my existing role itself in my current organization.

With experience of 9-10 yrs, is a leadership role kind of mandatory? Also, any suggestion on improving profile is welcome.

Thanks once again.

Hi,

Top b-schools like ISB encourages people like you who have consistently demonstrated an ability to take up initiatives in their work or academic life. They assess your leadership ability through recommendations or references you provide in the application. During your 10 years career you may not have had a chance to demonstrate leadership skills at the public level, so initiatives at work or in personal life will help the Admissions Committee assess your potential. ISB values the quality of the work experience you have gained against the number of years you have worked in a certain sector. Please PM your contact details if you are interested for profile evaluation.

Manish
