The Answer is C

in A, B "it took.." it doesn't have clear referent
D,E refer moving only in 1825 but we need before 1825

C correctly fixes the sentence

How can C be correct?

the second clause in answer C reads as
on the canal the move took less than eight days and cost less than $6.

Are you sure this is an independent clause with correct grammar (on canal??)

sorry for a silly question...
why arent we using Costed here?
we use took and not take
there is a word costed which is past participle of cost

pl help

B. Moving a ton of wheat from Buffalo to New York City before the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825, it took three weeks and cost $100; using the canal, it <- changes meaning and pronoun ref prob with IT

C. Before the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825, moving a ton of wheat from Buffalo to New York City took three weeks and cost $100; on the canal the move < - correct

D. In 1825, before opening the Erie Canal, to move a ton of wheat took three weeks from Buffalo to New York City, which cost $100; moving it on the canal<- Which refers to Newyork city thus wrong...

In C isn't there a violation of parallelism

"moving a ton of wheat from Buffalo to New York City took three weeks and cost $100" and "on the canal the move".

I think in B that problem is not there. Can someone explain the problem in 'B'.
